Consultative group for the decolonization of music education in Quebec
The Consultation Circle for the Decolonization of Music Education in Quebec is an interdisciplinary research project involving co-researchers and collaborators from Indigenous communities and the music education community in Quebec. In partnership with the UNESCO Chair TCPPDMEE (Cultural Transmission among First Peoples as a Dynamic for Well-Being and Empowerment), we wish to highlight the transmission of Indigenous knowledge by giving it the recognition it deserves, both in music courses offered in schools and private music schools, and within the community. Together, we want to establish a relationship based on mutual understanding in order to co-create and adapt educational tools that support the transmission of First Peoples’ music, in accordance with their traditions and contemporary issues. This project also seeks to explore the well-being associated with intercultural relations.
