Marie-Claude Mathieu

Marie-Claude Mathieu is a doctoral student in music education at Laval University under the supervision of Valerie Peters. Her work focuses on musical creativity, traditional music pedagogy, and the decolonization of music education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education (UQAM, 2002) and taught music at the secondary level for some 15 years before completing a master’s degree in music education at Laval University (2024). As part of her doctoral studies, she is conducting collaborative research with secondary school music teachers by creating a community of practice focused on the pedagogical integration of the skill of creating. She is also a lecturer at Laval University, where she participates in the initial training of future music teachers.
