Guillaume Fournier holds a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and a master’s and doctorate in music education from Université Laval. A music teacher at Cégep de Saint-Laurent, he devotes his time to teaching ear training, musical analysis and choral singing. During his master’s and doctoral studies, he received several grants for research excellence, notably from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) and the Observatoire interdisciplinaire de création et de recherche en musique (OICRM).

His research interests include auditory training pedagogy, tonal perception, musician health and the playful teaching of music. Firmly committed to music education, he founded the Chœur du Cégep de Saint-Laurent, directs the journal Musique et pédagogie, sits on the board of directors of the Fédération des associations de musiciens éducateurs du Québec (FAMEQ) and regularly reviews texts for various scientific journals.
