A doctoral candidate in music education at Université Laval under the co-direction of Francis Dubé and Andrea Creech, Guylaine Lemay is a research and teaching assistant She holds two bachelor’s degrees – in classical violin performance under the tutelage of Brett Molzan (2017) and in elementary and high school music education (2018) – as well as a master’s degree in instrumental didactics (2020). 

An orchestral musician for over 15 years, she has won the position of concertmaster with several symphony orchestras in Quebec and is still active as a violinist with the Orchestre Symphonique de Lévis. Her extensive background in music led her to teach music at F.A.C.E. (English Montreal School Board) elementary and high schools for three years, where she directed extracurricular string ensembles and coordinated the string department. Her research interests focus on the interpersonal environment in an instrumental ensemble context.
