Anne Ouellet-Demers
After completing her college education in music, which was marked by the onset of limiting pain related to playing the cello, Anne developed a deep interest in the science of human movement. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology—crowned with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology’s Undergraduate Award—and then a master’s degree in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and manual therapy at the University of Sherbrooke. She then pursued a specialization abroad in the care of artists (Arts Medicine, Smart Movements, PAMA).
For more than ten years, Anne has been working with amateur, student, and professional musicians from various backgrounds. She is co-author of the educational resource Mon corps, mon instrument (CCDMD), trainer for Culture Lanaudière, editor for the journal Musique et pédagogie (FAMEQ), and guest lecturer at numerous higher education institutions in music. She collaborates in particular with the Bureau de la santé et du mieux-être de l’artiste (Artist Health and Wellness Office) of the Quebec conservatory network. Anne has also taught Musicians’ Physical Health (University of Montreal) and Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (University of Sherbrooke).
At the same time, she continues to practice clinically in the Montreal and Lanaudière regions. She is also part of the team of professionals at Quartier Heka – medicine for performing artists, in Quebec City.
