Consultative Circle for the Decolonization of Music Education in Quebec
The Consultative Circle for the Decolonization of Music Education in Quebec is an interdisciplinary research project involving co-researchers and collaborators from Indigenous communities, as well as from the field of music education in Quebec. In partnership with the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Transmission among First Peoples as a Dynamic of Well-Being and Empowerment (TCPPDMEE), the project seeks to highlight and support the transmission of Indigenous knowledge by fostering the recognition it deserves within school-based music programs, private music schools, and community settings.
Together, we aim to establish relationships grounded in mutual understanding in order to co-create and adapt pedagogical resources that support the musical transmission practices of First Peoples, in ways that respect their traditions while addressing contemporary realities and challenges.
The project also seeks to explore the role of intercultural relationships in promoting individual and collective well-being.
