Connecting hearing-impaired seniors to music through online music activities

In Canada, over 75% of adults aged 60 to 79 have age-related hearing loss, leading to difficulties in leisure activities. Lifelong musical practice appears to protect hearing ability. This project aims to develop online piano lessons for hearing-impaired older people, using an innovative e-learning environment. The workshops were created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. A pilot cohort of three people participated in online piano lessons for 12 weeks. The project seeks to determine how to make music accessible to the hearing impaired, promoting enjoyment and well-being.
